Today I celebrate 17yrs (6,205 days, 148,970 hours, 8,935,200 minutes)

I woke up with these thoughts today for the Young People God has placed in my care. *(Long Post Alert)*

If I just give you my opinion and express my thoughts on any situation, it is a disservice to you.

.

If I just say #black lives matter, #all lives matter or I empathize with your pain, then I am painfully admitting that there is nothing in my human power that I can do to change your situation.

.

If I don’t acknowledge that I have made judgements about people because of their outer appearance then I would be a hypocrite for passing judgment on people who have done the same.

.

If I just use my words to try to explain the actions of or to tear down Presidents, Governors, Congressmen, Police officers or anyone in leadership and give my thoughts on everything I think they’re doing wrong, I’m not helping change laws for you or fighting for those who can’t fight for themselves.

.

But if I give you Jesus, it’s the best gift I can ever give. He will give you His words to speak to bring power to powerless situations. He will comfort you in ways my words never can. He will give you His love so that you will know you are fearfully and wonderful made; hand crafted and chosen by God on purpose and for a purpose. He will equip you with the weapons you need to fight in any battle and give you the wisdom on how and when to use them. He will help you choose love when you want to do evil. He will help you choose forgiveness when you are offended, wronged or despitefully used. He will give you peace that passes all understanding when you are gripped by fear. And if your very life is removed from this earth, He will reward you with an eternal home with Him, free from sickness, pain, suffering and injustice.

If I give you Jesus.. then I give you everything.

I have stayed in my place for 17 years so that I could fight for your generation.  Staying has not always been easy.. it’s been hard and lonely. It’s been test after test, trial after trial and many nights of deciding not to quit. It’s been times of celebrating and being thankful for the wins and crying and praying over the losses. I fight for you.. I fight for you in prayer. I will continue to do what God has called me do. I will offer correction when you’re wrong, celebration when you get it right and unconditional love always. My heart is to teach you how to choose right over wrong, love over hate, obedience over sacrifice, justice over judgement, and peace over fear. At the beginning and end of every day I want you to choose Jesus, because my dear one.. He is the only way!
